Romel- Believed to be the oldest of the gods, Romel was born to the old gods who have long since perished. He is the god of creation (life), fate and truth. He is also associated with names. Many of those who worship him believe that he can grant a name power and fear that forsaking their given names will incur Romel's wrath. However, Romel is a very benevolent god. Most often depicted as a man who is solidly built and tall with eyes the color of jade, he is beautiful to look at. While beautiful, Romel is also said to have a haunting aura. With perfect porcelain skin, waist-length blond hair, and a tall stature, those who are said to have stood in his presence were always haunted by his expressionless face. Romel's followers can be identified by the silver pendant they wear around their necks which depicts a tree in full bloom with its roots spread out.
Inad- The brother of Romel, Inad is every bit of his sibling's dark side. Where Romel gives life, Inad takes life away. Said to have been driven mad by his intense jealousy of his brother's ability to grant life, Inad destroys just as much as his brother creates. As such, it should come as no surprise that Inad is the god of death, destruction, chaos and, of course, madness. He is often depicted as the lover of Movath in many paintings and stories. Many books describe Inad as having a nearly enticing beauty that is mesmerizing. He is believed to be well built and just as tall as Romel with shoulder length, raven hair and eyes the color of liquid gold. His followers can be easily determined by their tattoos which depict an hourglass devoid of its sand.
Bithra- Known for being the wife of Farrior, Bithra is the goddess of the underworld, beasts, and crossroads. Legends tell of how Bithra drank from the river of Namt, a holy river in the God's Realm believed to be the source of the Fountain of Youth. For you see, Bithra had fallen in love with an immortal, a god, and Bithra was a Ukreenian woman who had a finite number of days to live. Desiring to be with her beloved, Bithra journeyed to find the sacred river that blesses mortals with not only youth, but immortality. Though she drank from the river and became an immortal, Inad did not approve of her residing in the God's Realm. For her transgression of drinking from the sacred river, Bithra was tasked with ruling over the Underworld and the darkness it brought.
Because of these stories, Bithra is depicted often as slim woman of medium stature with ebony skin, shoulder length cinnamon colored hair and eyes the color of gleaming steel. Her female followers can be identified by the crown of Chrysanthemums they wear atop their heads. Male followers can be seen wearing a single Chrysanthemum pinned to their lapel.
Farrior- Most notable for his marriage to Bithra, Farrior is the god of sin, shame, resentment, and illness. Many stories speak of how this god has cursed men who have tried to court his wife with an illness that later killed them. Those stories are only the beginning of the tales of Farrior's cruelty. According to one story, Farrior grew jealous of Frinn's freedom and her beautiful green creations. With wickedness in his heart and ill intent on his mind, Farrior cursed a willow tree with a deadly disease. At first, the illness only spread among the plants of Vaer. It caused them to wither, their lush greenery turning black and their flowers emitting the sickly sweet smell of decay. By the time the harvest came and went, the vegetables and grains had been cooked for meals. Many to fell ill and suffered. By the time the plague was ending, nearly half of the population of Vaer were dead.
Despised by most of the gods, Farrior is a malicious individual who appears to always be angry. He is of tall stature and appears to be sickly thin with tanned skin and eyes the color of withering violets. His hair is a russet color that reaches down to his shoulder blades. Most followers of Farrior are male and can be identified by their ritual scars that are located over their left eye and a tattoo of a withering willow tree on their backs.
Nem- A humble being, Nem is best known among the gods as a pacifistic daydreamer. As the god of joy, harmony, marriage, innocence, and family he is a gentle man who loves his wife, Teril, to the fullest. Known among many as a helper of souls and weaver of familial bonds, Nem is often depicted in a constant state of bliss. Many of his followers believe that he is a sacred protector of families and will often pray to him when a child is born to ask for his blessing and his protection. Nem is a man of average height and weight with tanned skin. His hair comes in a light gray color and is often kept shoulder length with gentle waves.
Perhaps Nem's most striking feature, when depicted, is his eyes which are a vivid shade of violet. Heavily worshipped by mothers, his followers can be identified by the amulet that they wear around their necks. These amulets are often carved out of wood and are intricate depictions of sea turtles. Turtles are believed to be a sacred symbol of motherhood and are often protected by families who live near the sea because they believe that it is Nem coming to check on them.
Teril- Just as humble as her husband, Teril is a honest and gentle soul who is known for wearing her heart on her sleeve. Unwilling to believe that everyone is inherently evil, Teril loves unconditionally. This is to be expected from the goddess of purity, hope, love, compassion and mercy. her story is most famous for her display of love for Farrior when he married Bithra and allowed her to become one of the gods, and again when Farrior brought his plague down upon humanity. Despite his wrong doings, Teril pleaded with Inad to spare their fellow deity in the, perhaps blind, belief that he wasn't entirely evil. She proclaimed that there must be some good left inside of Farrior, for he truly and unabashedly loves his wife despite his perceived cruelties towards her. It is because of her defense that both Bithra and Farrior were spared and cast into the underworld instead of being destroyed by Indad that day so many centuries ago.
Often depicted as a young woman barely in her twenties, Teril is slim with copper colored skin. She is tall with beautiful, long white hair and eyes the color of a golden sunset. In nearly every painting Teril is depicted in, she can be seen wrapping a child up in a warm embrace. Many believe the child to be a depiction of Farrior, others believe that the child is, in fact, the personification of Vaer. The patron deity of Virgis, many who worship Teril can be identified by the lily embroidered on their clothing. Another common identifier is the wearing of the color white.
Frinn- Perhaps the most fickle of all of the gods, Frinn is a goddess who changes almost as often as the seasons. While her following has been dwindling over the last few centuries, Frinn is still a powerful symbol to many of the races who survive by living off the land. As goddess of the hearth, nature, fire, and the seasons, she is a patron deity to the Aos Sí and the Tauri. This fickle goddess is also worshipped among the Masmodians who hail her as a deity whom blesses them with their skills and ability to survive in such a harsh desert. This is a stark contrast to the mayhem that she can bring in her anger, as she has been known to curse many who disrespect the beauty of nature.
Depicted in only a small library of texts and paintings, Frinn is a surprisingly plain woman of average height with fair skin and a slim build. Her hair is a warm cinnamon color of medium length and her eyes bear striking resemblance to that of the wild wolves of Vaer. Frinn is most often worshipped by commoners, but is also a favorite among the healers of the world. Many of her followers can be identified by their natural clothing which resembles native tribes of some unknown world. Another identifier of followers of Frinn is the depiction of hands holding a leaf. This symbol can be found in the form of tattoos or embroidery as well as decoration through the use of pigments made from berries.
Juxar- Son of Bithra and Farrior; brother of Movath. He is the god of trickery, celebrations, fools, and pathways. Seen as a mischievous god among his peers, he is renown for his merriment and brotherly friendship with that of Druer. He is often depicted as a lanky youth with greyish skin lined with ebony markings, his hair a tawny braid that runs down to the middle of his back. Due to his rather joyous nature, he is often seen with a wide grin on his face- of which has been taken as symbol by his followers. His worshipers can always be found with some kind of mask boasting a wide grin.
Er'mes- Sister of Teril, aunt to Schim. She is the goddess of dreams, magic, art, prophecies and knowledge. Known as the Lady of Wisdom, many of her followers tend to be of the scholarly variety. She is hailed with gracious amount of praise from both priesthoods as well as the more secretive sects of Arcanist cults. As such she is often depicted as an older woman donning heavy robes that often differ between the factions who worship her. Her hair color often defers between iterations, some stating her to be blond while others declare her a redhead- yet her eyes have always been known to be the deepest of emerald green. Praised as the guardian from nightmares, her followers can be easily spotted by a dreamcatcher decorated with an emerald they will often tie to their person in clear view.
Mallav- Son of Inad; he is the god of war, wrath, vengeance, warriors, and murder. A fearsome god renown for his merciless rage and rampage, he is heavily celebrated in times of conflict. More often than not he is shown standing atop countless battlefields or standing over the bodies of innocents, giving him a terrifying aura to the common man. He is shown as a heavily built man with strangely handsome features despite the twisted snarl of an enraged god always covering his face. His eyes are often shown a burning gold tinted red by his rage, raven black hair shown as wild as a stallion's mane. His brutalities have led him to possess very few worshipers, yet those who pay tribute to the god Mallav have been known to be just as cold, merciless, and far more stubborn than many would give them credit for. His symbol is that of a tattoo on one's tongue, shaped as a black crescent axe.
Schim- Son of Nem and Teril, nephew to Er'mes. He is the god of honor, victory, strength, justice, and oaths. Counterpart to the ferocity of Mallav, Schim is regarded as an honorable warrior by both the mortal realm as well as his fellow gods. Patron deity of knights, he is often seen in texts as the role-model for chivalry if not the father of the ideal. He is painted as a god in highly decorative armor, his face hidden behind a helm in the shape of a lion. In one hand he wields a sword, in the other a scale- often standing atop some kind of platform looking down to the masses. Often times his name is called upon during battles, oath-swearing, or in cases when the law is to show judgement- in which case, his tribute is that of a decorated sword. It would not be unusual to see knights wearing their decorative sword on their person along with their usual weapons.
Movath- Daughter of Bithra and Farrior; sister to Juxar. She is the goddess of lust and desire, patron lady of narcissism, secrets, fertility, and wishes. A lady steeped in confidence, written as both a seductress of men and whimsical guardian of whispers. She is depicted as an extremely beautiful woman with raven black hair and delicate skin, covered with lavish gifts of jewelry to finery. She has been shown to boast an unwavering pride that has swelled to arrogance along with the greed of her lust, yet even so; several sources still reveal her as constantly gifted tribute by men. Worshiped wholly by women, her followers can be identified by the bead circlets they wear to mimic the 'crown' worn by the Lady of Lust.
Druer- Brother of Frinn; he is the god of the forge, lord of work, drink, and friendship. A god more foretold in stone and the painted decorations on the bottle of liquor, he is a god boasting a heavy set of merriment. Patron deity of smiths and the guardian of those who work hard, he is shown as a rather neutral god who doesn't involve himself outside the merriment of hard work paying off. By this term, that usually meant 'partying' or 'heavy drinking'; of which his best friend Juxar is often shown right there with him. Stone statues and carved murals depict him as a heavy man with a face full of curly dark brown hair with a beard that easily covers half of his round stomach. He dresses in the simpler clothes with most of his finery going into the braids of his hair and beard along with a few plump gem rings on his fingers. He is often shown leaning against or on a massive hammer with a goblet in hand. His icon, the picture of a goblet can be seen on any items dedicated to him; the people who worship him more personally have that same icon tattooed on their right shoulders.
Faelin- A daughter of the Old Gods, her heritage unknown to nearly all. She is the goddess of the stars and heavenly bodies, lady of travel and change. Considered a heathen's goddess by many priesthoods, her name has all but nearly been forgotten to the ancient rivers of yore. Very few texts have survived to tell of her, many only knowing her from ancient statues and archaic oral legends. Some have told her as the daughter of the heavens come to watch the world, lead it to thrive. Others have told of her as once human, risen to godhood through the love of a god whose name was lost to history. From what is known of her, she is depicted as a girl freshly into the years of teenage youth with hair the color of the moon and eyes that shine silver. Many stories have told of her heavenly singing which had translated into what people thought to be her symbol. Nowadays, those brave enough to worship her are known by the upside-down crown-like tattoo over their necks, depicting the voices of those who would join her's into the stars.
